Walk the Shift

Identifying hazards, selecting controls, and reporting across one work shift.

You are the leading hand at a distribution and fabrication site. The scenario stops at three points during a single shift. At each stop you will identify the hazard that carries the highest risk, select a control from the hierarchy of control, and decide how the hazard is reported.

Your choices carry forward. A hazard left under a weak control, or one that goes unreported, will affect conditions later in the shift. The shift status indicator in the header shows the overall level of risk you are leaving behind as you go.

In 2024, 188 Australian workers died at work. Transport, postal and warehousing recorded more deaths than any other industry, and vehicle incidents accounted for 42% of the national total.
